Korean fried chicken and beer restaurant chain Left Wing Bar is opening its first American location in Austin. It will be located at Urban Outfitters’ Space 24 Twenty at 2416 Guadalupe Street on campus, occupying what was formerly hot dog restaurant Frank’s counter-service location. Per a representative, it will open in early or mid April.
Left Wing, which operates 360 locations in Korea, serves a straightforward menu of chicken with flavors like original, sweet and spicy, house special, go-bachi (Korean chili barbecue), and khan-bachi (soy teriyaki barbecue). The bar also serves beer and wine.
Left Wing also has a second location coming to San Jose, California. That will open sometime after the Austin one.
Space 24 Twenty has hosted a variety of restaurants in the space. First it was Symon’s Burger Joint from celebrity chef Michael Symon. That opened in 2015 and closed in June 2017. Frank expanded to the space in October 2017, but shuttered last summer. The other location of Frank has been closed due to unpaid taxes since October 2018. The space currently hosts banana dessert truck Bananarchy.
