A longtime Jacksonville staple for authentic and traditional Indian cuisine is closing its doors this weekend.

India’s Restaurant, 9802 Baymeadows Road, will serve its last meal after 22 years in business on Sunday, the owners announced via a sign taped on the restaurant’s door.

“It is with a heavy heart we inform you that India’s Restaurant will be closing on July 28. We have been in business 22 years and have made some great friends along the way, but now it is time to say goodbye/ We appreciate all of our customers who have supported us since July 1997. Thank you everyone for for allowing us to serve you. Sincerely, the Singh Family.”

The restaurant owners couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.

Family owned and operated, India’s restaurant was a popular lunch and dinner destination. Customer favorites included chicken tandoori, saag paneer spinach, lamb boti kabab and vegetable korma.
