Morning Star Farms to commit to 100 percent plant based

MorningStar Farms® announces its commitment to convert the entire portfolio to be 100 percent plant-based (vegan) by 2021, making it easier for restaurant chefs and operators to meet customer demand and satisfy their preferences for tasty plant-based menu items. This conversion includes all products available to restaurants and eating establishments within K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and hospitals along with products available at retail.

“MorningStar Farms® has always been all about fueling culinary creations through our versatile portfolio of high-quality, great tasting products,” said Gavin Bowyer, Senior Director Commercial Marketing at Kellogg Company. “We’re making plant-based eating more accessible by giving our customers the freedom to create unique and flavorful 100 percent plant-based favorites while playing a larger part in protecting our planet by reducing the water waste, land usage, and carbon emission associated with egg production.”

The MorningStar Farms® foodservice portfolio includes a diverse range of 26 products designed to deliver menu solutions across every meal occasion. The entire portfolio conversion should be completed by 2021. MorningStar Farms® Meat Lovers Vegan Burger is the newest, plant-based burger option to join the star-studded lineup of 7 flavorful burgers in the foodservice product portfolio. It delivers a real, no-compromise burger experience with its true, meat-like texture and great taste with at least 50 percent less saturated fat than other plant-based protein competitors.1 Packed with 27g of protein2 and made with non-GMO soy, these patties satisfy guests with the real burger taste and a dense texture that they want and protein they crave.

“We know that taste, texture, and quality are the most desired attributes customers seek, so we are more than excited to serve up the no-sacrifice MorningStar Farms® Meat Lovers Vegan Burger to foodservice channels everywhere,” said Oona Settembre, Executive Chef of Commercial National Sales at Kellogg Specialty Channels. “Our conversion to 100 percent plant-based and new innovations like the Meat Lovers Vegan Burger will help our customers move plant-based protein menu items to the center of the plate while contributing to a greener world.”
