Planning to dine out for Thanksgiving? You are far from unusual.

According to a 2017 National Restaurant Association survey, 9 percent of adults enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal at a restaurant last year. Of those, 31 percent said the restaurant they chose was one that they traditionally go to on Thanksgiving.

With two popular Thanksgiving restaurants closing their doors since last year, some folks are going to have to find a new tradition. The Holloway House in Bloomfield and Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua both have closed since last year.

The one drawback of dining at a restaurant is not having leftovers on hand for turkey sandwiches, but one area restaurant has creatively addressed that issue. For the past few years, D & R Depot in Le Roy, Genesee County, has offered people who dine at the restaurant leftovers to go at a nominal cost, packaged in microwaveable containers for easy reheating.

Because of the popularity of the day, diners are advised to make reservations well in advance.
